Correlation biplot showing the distribution ("loadings") of the original 8 variables plotted on principal components 1 and 2. The correlation between variables and between variables and principal components is given by the angle between the vectors. A right angle indicates no correlation whereas an acute or obtuse angle indicates a positive or negative correlation respectively. The length of the vector's projection on the component's axes reflects its contribution to the principal component. Because the analyses have been performed on the correlation matrix, vector lengths range between 0 and 1 as illustrated by the unit radius (the unitary correlation circle).
